Lauren Hart

Hi there! I’m Lauren Hart, the founder of Optimal Living Therapy and co founder of Otuition. My journey into occupational therapy wasn’t planned, but over the past 10 years, it’s become more than just a job to me – it’s a path of constant learning, adapting, and coming up with fresh ideas.

To me, being an occupational therapist is all about thinking creatively and finding unique solutions to unique problems. It’s ultimately about helping our clients get the most out of their lives and I love that we get to contribute to that.

I’m proud of the work we’ve put into Otuition and I’m excited to bring you these courses. My hope is that these lessons will strengthen your capacity as an OT.

SDA Assessment

Navigating the components of Specialist Disability Accommodation is often challenging, especially when it comes to producing reports for participants wanting to test their eligibility for SDA.

As SDA Assessors and clinical OT’s working with people who have complex disabilities, we found ourselves  needing to connect two very separate (but important) parts of SDA together: the SDA Design Standards and the SDA Rules Legislation to ensure successful outcomes for participants.

In our experience, it is the practical understanding of the design standards combined with the detailed analysis of the participants needs that deliver a strong and impactful SDA report. We have spent years refining a report template that ties this all together.

Now we want to share all of our knowledge with you.

This course is an in-depth dive into SDA assessment, examining the essential components of the legislation, bringing to life the SDA Design Standards inside a newly-built home and finally, assembling an SDA report

After this course I felt confident that I knew and understood the process and components which needed to be considered when fabricating an SDA assessment or even before opting for an SDA option for the client. I loved that it provided the structure for the report writing, what to include and examples which was helpful to see what it would look like and for something to refer back to.
